Strange But (Mostly) True, Book 1 - page 10

A huge search began the next day. Over 300
planes and boats took part. They covered over
300,000 square miles. No one found a trace of
Flight 19.
THE BERMUDA TRIANGLE
THE STRANGE TRUTH
Some people think Flight 19 was abducted by aliens.
But there are more logical explanations.
The Gulf Stream in the triangle area moves very fast.
Wreckage from planes and ships can easily be swept
away.
The ocean floor in the Bermuda Triangle features some
of the deepest trenches in the world. Buried deep in a
trench, a wrecked plane or ship would be very hard to
find.
Storms can develop very quickly in the triangle area. A
ship or plane may not have time to call for help.
The Bermuda Triangle is also called the“Devil’s Triangle.”
A similar place exists off the east coast of Japan. It is
called the “Devil’s Sea.” Many ships and planes have
disappeared there too.
