Minnesotans as part of a community policing effort in
neighborhoods that are home to people of color. Efforts
like this one are being instituted in many US cities.

To change that disturbing trend and build a police force that
citizens could trust, Brown enacted a number of community
policing measures. One was a new foot pursuit policy that em-
phasizes de-escalation. Offi cers are trained to think carefully
about a situation before reacting and to back off if that is the
smartest choice. Brown is also committed to transparency,
meaning that police statistics—including data on shootings—
will not be kept from the public; they are now accessible online.
In talking to his offi cers, Brown also declared that traffi c tickets
were not intended to raise revenue. As a result, the number of
tickets issued by offi cers was slashed in half. In addition, just
as in Minneapolis, more offi cers on the Dallas force were issued
               body cameras.
