Although not everyone who
                                                                   plays video games becomes
                                                                   addicted, there is some
                                                                   evidence that the games
                                                                   are addictive for many
                                                                   people, including teens.




               everyone who plays video games is an addict. There is some
               evidence though, that games are addictive for many people.
               This addiction is fueled by elements of the games themselves.
               “Gaming companies are enlisting the help of PhD behavioural
               psychologists using state-of-the-art research and data to make
               their games as addictive as possible,”  says James Good of
                                                         18
               Game Quitters, an organization that helps people who have
               video game addiction.
                   Video games have become increasingly addictive over time.
               In the past, video game manufacturers would release the whole
               game and then create a sequel (for example, Super Mario Bros.
               1, 2, and 3). Now, video games are designed to keep the players
               engaged because there is no end. There is no way to beat the
               game. The player just continues to level up. There is no satisfac-
               tion in completion, only the desire to keep advancing.
