United States.
Sands-Ramshaw worked for the NSA for two years, from 2010
to 2012. Since leaving the agency, he has written books about
coding, developed websites and mobile apps, and blogged about
his experiences inside and outside of the NSA. Of his time in the
cyberintelligence industry, he writes, “If you are a US citizen, I hope
you are reassured to know how capable and thorough your cyber spy
agency and military command are. I was extremely impressed by the
Agency’s capabilities.”
SPY VERSUS SPY
Traditional spy work involves collecting information about threats
and enemies, analyzing that information, and sharing the information
with those who need it. Cyberspying involves the same thing, only the
collecting, analyzing, and sharing of information are done online and
with computers. Cyberintelligence, then, blends modern information
technology (IT) with traditional espionage.
US Cyber Command coordinates the cyberintelligence teams of each US military
branch. These service members are part of a US Air Force cyberoperations unit.
