RAILROAD
he Underground Railroad was not a real railroad and
Twasn’t underground. It was a secret network of routes
and safe houses formed by abolitionists from Philadelphia,
a city in the United States. Escaped enslaved people
followed the routes south to Mexico and north to the free
American states and Canada.
