                                           he Underground Railroad was not a real railroad and

                                       and safe houses formed by abolitionists from Philadelphia,


                                       a city in the United States. Escaped enslaved people

                                       followed the routes south to Mexico and north to the free


                                       American states and Canada.

                                       Slaveholders and bounty hunters would often try to hunt down
                                       people looking for freedom, making escaping very dangerous.
