Not all melting ice makes the sea level rise. Icebergs
and sea ice in the Arctic Ocean and along the coast of
Antarctica are already in the sea. They are like giant ice
cubes floating in water. Just as water in a glass doesn’t
rise as ice cubes in it melt, ocean water doesn’t rise as
the icebergs and sea ice in it melt.
Even though massive icebergs
float in the Arctic Ocean, they do
not contribute to rising sea levels.
