their phone use affects their relationships. Approximately half of US teen
smartphone users say they use their phones too much.

to feelings of loneliness when people neglect their in-person
friendships. People’s relationships with family and friends
can become strained if they spend too much time online or
on apps.
That same smartphone that helps people connect to
each other can also distract them from their in-person
relationships and conversations. When two people are
trying to have a face-to-face conversation, it can be
challenging when one person has his head down and his
