Students with learning disabilities are often targets for bullying.
Peer support is important in fostering relationships and teaching
students empathy.
Donna Desimone is the program director at
Community Steps to Independence, a program for
eighteen- to twenty-one-year-old individuals with special needs
who have completed their high school requirements and are
learning to live independently. She says, “Every single one of
my students was bullied when they were younger.” Desimone
