Like Lizzie Velásquez, Lewinsky has taken her experience as
a cyberbullying target and channeled those feelings to become
an activist. She is driven to put an end to cyberbullying. And she
offers these words of hope for targets of cyberbullying: “You can
survive it. . . . You can insist on a different end for your story.” 33
In a romantic relationship, people may send a sexually
revealing photo of themselves to their significant other. If the
relationship ends badly, the other person might angrily share
the photo with others via social media or text. This victimization
is commonly called revenge porn and is another type of
cyberbullying that men and women endure, though women
experience it more often. Yanet Ruvalcaba and Asia A. Eaton
surveyed 3,044 people and found, “Women experienced higher
rates of nonconsensual
pornography victimization
than men.” The purpose of “Women experienced higher rates

of nonconsensual pornography
revenge porn is to publicly victimization than men.” 34
