antibodies: proteins produced by the immune system to

fight infection

coronavirus: a virus whose surface is covered by
spiky projections
pandemic: a worldwide outbreak of a disease

positive: having an infection or illness, as indicated by a

test result
quarantine: a specific time period during which people isolate
themselves from others so as not to pass on a disease

social distancing: keeping a certain amount of space between

yourself and others, usually 6 feet (2 m), to prevent the spread
of disease from person to person
vaccine: a substance that prepares the immune system to

fight off an invader, such as a virus

virus: a tiny particle that can infect living cells and
cause disease
